Erieau, located on Lake Erie, also known as Eau Buoy, is a community in the city of Chatham. It is just a 30 minutes ride from downtown Chatham. This peninsula is the perfect destination if you are looking for a shorter road trip. However, Erieau might be even closer to your house depending on where you live in Chatham-Kent. In the community, you can visit the gorgeous beaches and try out some fun activities such as sailing and scuba diving. Also, make sure to stay awhile and relax in some of its beautiful cottages. You can also use this opportunity to visit Rondeau and Wheatley Provincial Parks which are only 10 minutes away from Erieau, making it a total of 40 minutes away from Chatham-Kent.
Aylmer
Take your Atlas or your Golf Alltrack on vacation too, because it needs it! Make sure to visit the town of Aylmer which is one and a half hours drive away from Chatham via Ontario Highway 401 East. The road to Aylmer is a popular course because of its rewarding views. There are many things to explore and experience in Aylmer! For instance, some famous sites are the Old Town Theatre, Port Burwell Provincial Park Beach, and the many historical museums. Also, take your time to discover this wonderful town and linger awhile in the parks in and around Aylmer.
Stratford
The City of Stratford is two hours north-east of Chatham-Kent. It is located on the Avon River, which makes it a beautiful city to drive through because of its many scenic views. Also, you do not want to miss the opportunity to be part of the May to October festival season. During this time of the year, you will get to witness and enjoy many classic plays from Shakespeare and also discover new ones from contemporary Canadian writers. You certainly wouldn’t want to miss out! So make sure to take your family and friends along for this adventurous ride. And that’s not all: the city of Aylmer is also the perfect destination to get some shopping done and learn more about history by visiting its historic downtown.
Niagara Falls
If you are up for a really long road trip, then Niagara Falls is the perfect destination for you. It really does not matter what time of the year you decide to go to the Niagara Falls. If you decide to go during the winter, make sure you have all the necessary winter driving tips. To best view the falls, make sure to visit the Skylon Tower which is the highest view point to fully enjoy the beauty of the falls.
